Richard Fields is the Chairman of Coastal Development, LLC and the largest shareholder of Suffolk Downs race track. Richard Fields has been in the entertainment and resort development business for over a decade. Earlier in his career he was part owner and manager of Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club. He also worked with business mogul Donald Trump to develop Trump's New Jersey casino resort and entertainment properties. Since then, Richard Fields has gone on to develop the Seminole Resort and Casino in Tampa and Hollywood, Florida.
In 2007, Richard Fields became the largest shareholder of Suffolk Downs racetrack, which he hopes to see restored as a popular entertainment venue and which he hopes to expand into an entertainment resort and gambling destination. Richard Fields saw progress in his vision in August 2008 when Suffolk Downs struck a partnership with Wonderland, a dog racing track in the same venue as Suffolk Downs. Richard Fields is also the owner of Jackson Land and Cattle, a ranching property in Wyoming for breeding and training American Quarter Horses. Also in 2008, Richard Fields bought Trump Marina Casino from Donald Trump through Coastal Marina, an affiliate of Coastal Development LLC.
Richard Fields is also a philanthropist who gives back to the community through the Fields Family Foundation. The Fields Family Foundation champions children's causes, fights poverty, and funds medical research for the degenerative disorder dystonia. Richard Fields and The Fields Family Foundation also assists law enforcement through the establishment of incentive programs for police officers in New York.
